About Joe Green

Joe Green earned his I.S.A Arborist Certification in 1995 while working as City Arborist for City of Roswell, Georgia. He has been an independent arborist for over 25 years and takes regular certification courses covering the most current information in the field.

 

He graduated from the University of Georgia with Bachelor of Science Degree in Horticulture in 1976.  He earned his Masters Degree in Integrated Teaching Through the Arts from Leslie University in 2006. Joe’s early adventures took him from fishing in Alaska and fruit picking in New Zealand to commercial greenhouse manager in Southern California and plant researcher in southwest Florida. His career spans over 40 years in the green industry.

 

Joe Green served as a horticulture teacher for 14 years and as a Cobb County Agriculture Extension Agent for two years.  As an educator, he has served as a national delegate with the 2006 Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund, the 2007 Toyota International Teacher Program to the Galapagos Islands, 2005 The Hands Across the Water Program in Costa Rica, and the 2009 Earthwatch Expedition Climate Change on The Arctic’s Edge.

 

In 2012, he retired from teaching horticulture  at Pope High School, Marietta, Georgia where he was Teacher of the Year in 2006. He is a four time recipient of the NAAE Ideas Unlimited Award for innovation strategies in teaching agriculture
